Strong Observability Across Environments
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Datadog from other similar products?
According to my point of view, I find Datadog stands out because it provides a unified view of infrastructure, applications, logs, and cloud services in a single platform. This makes troubleshooting faster, improves incident response, and reduce the need to switch between tool. Its strong cloud integrations, scalability, and real-time visibility help my team maintain reliable performance and make informed operational decisions efficiently.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect of Datadog is the visibility it provides across the entire IT environment. Having infrastructure metrics, application performance data, logs, and alerts available in one place makes it much easier to understand what is happening and quickly identify the root cause of issues. According to my perspective, this saves valuable time during troubleshooting, improves team efficiency, and help ensure that critical services remain reliable for users.
What do you dislike most about this product?
What I dislike most about Datadog is that the pricing can become difficult to predict ad usage grows. As more hosts, services, logs, and monitoring features are added, costs can increase faster than expected, making budget planning challenging. While the platform offers powerful capabilities, it often requires careful monitoring of usage to avoid unexpected expenses. For organizations with rapidly expanding environments, managing costs can sometimes be just as important as managing the technology itself.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If we are considering Datadog, I would recommend taking the time to evaluate which features our organization truly needs and estimating our expected usage before committing. The platform delivers excellent visibility across infrastructure, applications, and cloud services, making it especially valuable for complex or growing environments. However, it’s important to understand the pricing model and monitor usage closely to ensure costs remain aligned with our budget. If comprehensive monitoring and faster troubleshooting and priorities of our team, Datadog is a strong solution worth considering.

One Platform; Full-Stack Observability
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Datadog from other similar products?
Provision of full stack observability and not just network monitoring since it combines the three observability pillars namely metrics, logs and traces hence covers performance analytics, logs, network traffic, applications, cloud services and infrastructure. Contains a large integration ecosystem making it easy to integrate with the existing Finacial IT infrastructure.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
It is a SaaS monitoring platform and this reduces infrastructure management overhead for my team Has a strong APM
What do you dislike most about this product?
Has a complex pricing structure that is dependent on APM traces, hosts, network and synthetic monitoring among others all of which make cost management quite challenging
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
For enhanced cost management control log and metrics retention by monitoring only the critical hosts, reducing log retention period, using sampling for traces and filtering all unnecessary logs.
