What distinguishes Notion is that it combines documentation, project management, databases, and AI capabilities in a single platform that saves lots of time. During my internship, we used it to manage project documentation, automate workflows, track tasks, and store SOPs. Instead of switching between multiple tools, everything remained in a single workspace, making collaboration much easier. The AI features were also helpful for creating content, summarizing notes, and improving documentation.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite feature is the flexibility. We could create custom pages, databases, task boards, and documentation exactly as our team required.. The AI assistant also helped us summarize meeting notes and draft documentation, saving time on day-to-day tasks.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Notion's flexibility is one of its best strengths, but it can also be overwhelming for new users due to the numerous ways to organize information. Large workspaces can be challenging to manage without a consistent structure, and some advanced AI features require a paid subscription.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would recommend creating a clear workspace structure before your team begins using it. Create templates for documentation, task tracking, and project updates so that everyone uses the same format. If your team manages multiple projects or relies on documentation, Notion adds significant value by keeping everything organized in one place and reducing the need to switch between applications. In nutshell this is best tool for notes, tasks and collaboration.

The key differentiator is Notion’s database system, which blends spreadsheet simplicity with structure data modeling concepts. Unlike tools where tables are isolated features, Notion treats databases as core building blocks that can live inside any page and interact with other database. And Notion also acts as a lightweight system builder, sitting somewhere between no-code tools and real software development environments.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The aspect of Notion that stands out is how it makes relationship between piece of information feel natural instead of engineered. In most tools, linking data is something you design upfront–tables, foreign keys, schemas, rigid structure. And what’s also subtle but powerful is how Notion makes reuse effortless.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The drawback is that it sits in an awkward middle ground between structure systems and raw flexibility. It doesn’t have the strict guarantees of a real database-backed application, but it also doesn’t stay as simple as a basic note-taking. And performance is another pain that shows up more than you’d expect.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

The practical recommendation is to avoid overusing complexity features too early. Relations, rollups, and advanced database views are powerful l, but they can easily lead to over-engineered setups that become harder to understand than the problem they’re solving. And from software engineer’s perspective, it helps to think of Notion as something closer to a system design problem than app choice.

My best part about Notion is its flexibility. I can create my own system for managing notes, tasks, and projects exactly the way I want. It helps keep everything in one place, which makes it easier to stay organized and reduces the need to use multiple tools.

What do you dislike most about this product?

according to me one thing which don’t like is that it can feel slow when working with large pages or databases. It also takes time to understand how to use it properly, especially for new users. Without a clear setup, it can become messy and difficult to manage.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would recommend Notion to anyone who wants a flexible workspace, but it’s important to spend some time learning how to structure it properly. Starting with simple templates can help, and gradually customizing them will make the experience much better.
