What differentiates Looker from other similar products?

Looker’s cloud-native architecture is a real plus and allowing for super easy global deployment. Others have either regional latency or disconnected database links. Looker’s integration with the major cloud data warehouses means that our offices around the world, from Tokyo to New York, all have fast reliable access to our global datasets.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The localised time zone handling and multi-currency support features are total life savers for global operations and we can easily build a single operational dashboard that automatically changes its numerical formats and timeframes based on the viewer’s specific geographic location, saving us countless hours of manual data conversion.

What do you dislike most about this product?

It’s difficult to provide global technical support due to the need for specialised knowledge of LookML. When an analyst in Europe comes across a modelling error, they often have to wait for our core data team in America to come online, creating frustrating delays in our fast-paced international operational workflows.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you are global, the first thing you need to do is standardise your underlying data warehouse structure. Looker is awesome, but it just reflects the quality of your cloud database. Have technical ambassadors in different time zones who understand the basics of LookML to be able to provide immediate support and not create a bottleneck in workflow across international teams.

What differentiates Looker from other similar products?

Honestly, competing tools offer very similar capabilities. In my opinion, Looker stands out with its interface; it's very clear. There's no chaos that makes it difficult to focus on the data. Everything is perfectly organized.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect of this product is the insight into real-time data. The ability to observe statistics after making changes to the environment allows me to quickly identify nuances and errors, as well as monitor whether the changes being implemented are proceeding correctly.

What do you dislike most about this product?

I really like this product and it's hard for me to point out an element I don't like, but I know that my colleagues often have problems setting up charts using SQL, which can be discouraging.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

It's definitely worth trying and assessing the value of analytical data. They can be more or less useful, but it depends on the environment in which they're used and whether they're used correctly.

I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, reliable, and easy-to-use BI tool for dashboards and data insights.
