What differentiates Gusto from other similar products?

Gusto is an employee resources tool that allows you to view your paychecks directly as well as the deductions and benefits breakdown per paycheck. You can also track your vacation, sick, and bereavement time with ease.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect is the PTO tracking feature. I can easily go in, pick my vacation days and hours I want to use, and an email is immediately sent to my supervisor who can easily approve my time. I get confirmation almost instantly as soon as it is approved. The app also keeps track of how many PTO hours I have in my bank, how many are still pending for approval, and my net balance.

What do you dislike most about this product?

While it does show deductions, it does not provide an exact/detailed breakdown (i.e. medical, dental, short term disability, etc.) It just lumps it all together.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

DEFINITELY recommend Gusto as an employee end user! Great features for employee benefits and resources on the go and all easily accessible on the app.

My favorite aspect of Gusto is how effortless it makes payroll and tax compliance for small businesses. The automation of payroll runs, tax filings, and year-end forms (like W-2s and 1099s) removes a huge administrative burden—especially for companies without a dedicated HR or finance team. It's truly “set it and forget it” in the best way.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The biggest downside of Gusto is its limited customization for more complex payroll structures. For example, businesses with multiple pay schedules, more complex benefit structures, or unique tax situations may find that Gusto doesn't offer as much flexibility as other platforms. Additionally, its reporting features, while solid, could be more robust for businesses that need more detailed, customized insights.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Gusto makes the process of calculating work hours clear, allowing everyone to easily submit comments and inquiries. Its notifications are great and improve response time. I loved the efficiency of the dashboards, which clearly outline all the details.

What do you dislike most about this product?

There are no downsides at all. Gusto automates data collection completely, and the forms are great and easy for everyone to fill out.
